Congenital Rubella

 

  • This project commenced in 1990
  • Its aim is to monitor the effectiveness of the rubella immunisation programme by determining the incidence of congenital rubella and investigating the circumstances surrounding any new cases.
  • Since 1997, 10 congenital rubella births have been reported, 7 of these were imported infections
  • Funded: Health Protection Agency, SENSE, Centre for Paediatric Epidemiology and Biostatistics, ICH London
  • Ethics approval London MREC (ref: 05/MRE02/2) and PIAG.
